Kaspersky Lab, a leading developer of secure content management solutions, announces that Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 romped to victory in comparative testing conducted by the respected Polish IT magazine PC Format.

Detailed results of all the security suites tested were announced in issue no. 4/2010 of the magazine. The magazine’s experts put 10 of the leading Internet Security software products available on the Polish market through their paces. The test looked at how each product made use of system resources during on-access and on-demand scanning, as well as each product’s operational stability, functionality and effectiveness at detecting malware.

Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 took the ‘Best Quality’ title, overshadowing, amongst others, Norton Internet Security 2010, G Data Internet Security 2010 and ESET Smart Security 4. Some of the features of Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 that particularly impressed PC Format‘s experts were the product’s outstanding effectiveness, its Safe Run mode, its ability to block advertisements, its advanced parental control system and its advanced web-monitoring capabilities.

“Kaspersky Internet Security 2010’s success is down to the product’s large number of available features. The program has everything a user could require, and more. It provides excellent protection for Internet browsers, – wrote PC Format’s Editor, Bartlomiej Mrozewski – Not only do filters check every website visited for potential threats, but the Internet browser can be run from inside the sandbox, isolating it entirely from the operating system.”

Safe Run mode is just one of the innovate features inside Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 and is based on new Sandbox technology – which is unique among Internet Security Suites. Safe Run mode enables the user to run suspect software in an isolated, virtual environment that protects the operating system against all types of malicious damage. Statistically, it has been demonstrated that vulnerabilities in operating systems and trusted applications are often exploited by hackers to attack applications that make use of the Internet.

Kaspersky Lab, a leading developer of secure content management solutions, announces that Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 has been awarded Best in Class by PC för Alla – Sweden’s most popular computer magazine.

The award was announced in an article carried by the magazine’s February issue which reported on tests performed by the publication on eight of the most popular security packages available on the Swedish market. Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 is described as being an ambitious security package with many smart functions over and above the usual antivirus, anti-spyware and anti-phishing technologies.

The Kaspersky Lab product was named ‘Best in Class’, beating Symantec’s Norton Internet Security 2010, Eset’s Smart Security 4, F-Secure’s Internet Security 2010, McAfee’s Internet Security 2010, Panda’s Global Protection 2010, Trend Micro’s Internet Security 2010 and Avast’s Antivirus 4.8.

PC för Alla stated that Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 had the highest overall detection rates of any of the solutions that they tested and was among the fastest solutions for on-demand scanning – being twice as fast as most of the competition. The test results also showed that Kaspersky Internet Security 2010, along with another program, impacted the performance of the host machine the least – using only two per cent of the system’s resources. The product’s many features, such as the virtual keyboard to combat keyloggers, gaming mode and parental control, contributed heavily to the solution being voted the best all-round security package for 2010.

Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 incorporates a Safe Run mode based on innovative new Sandbox technology – a unique feature amongst Internet Security Suites. Safe Run enables the user to run suspect software in an isolated, virtual environment that protects the operating system against all types of malicious damage. Statistically, it has been demonstrated that vulnerabilities in operating systems and trusted applications are often exploited by hackers to attack applications that make use of the Internet.

Kaspersky Lab, a leading developer of secure content management solutions, announces Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 has received the Gold Zero-Day Protection Award from the Anti-Malware Test Lab, a highly reputable web portal dedicated to cyber-security research and testing.

The Anti-Malware Test Lab carried out a dynamic test of 20 cyber-security solutions from different vendors, including Norton Internet Security 2009, Trend Micro Internet Security 2009, Microsoft Security Essential and various others. The tests were conducted between 7 July 2009 and 22 October 2009 on computers running Windows XP SP3 and followed a custom methodology. The study was aimed at testing just how effective popular antivirus products are at protecting the user’s computer from the latest malware programs which are spread via infected websites and can avoid signature-based detection.

Kaspersky Lab’s KIS 2010 was recognized as the best Internet Security-class product in the test. It managed to neutralize 92% of all the malware used in the test sample.

“This test is of tremendous value to regular computer users and to cyber-security experts alike,” stated Alex Gostev, Head of Kaspersky Lab’s Global Research and Analysis Team. “It is dynamic and it is a very accurate and realistic simulation of a user’s online activity. Thus it offers a very good estimation of how effective today’s security solutions are at countering online threats. We are happy to see our product nominated best-in-class, just as it was previously. Our score has actually improved from 88% last time to 92% this time, even though the malware test sample has been enlarged. This demonstrates that the new technologies implemented in our 2010 range of products constitute a considerable step forward. The Hosted Intrusion Prevention-type technology path we have pursued for several years has absolutely proved its worth. This award shows that our security philosophy is truly comprehensive and that our technological leadership is holding steady.”
