Brief product overview

Kaspersky Anti-Virus 5.6 for Linux Mail Server protects mail traffic and file system of servers under Linux or FreeBSD operating systems and use Sendmail mail systems (via Milter API), Postfix, qmail or Exim. Application features are implemented using the modules and filters embedded in different MTAs. The filter receives a message from the mail system and sends it to the central application service for scanning. The central service scans the message according to the settings set in the configuration file. After checking and processing the message, it is sent to the filter. The processed message with notifications on scan and treatment results is sent to mail system.

Install Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Linux Mail Server 5.6 in a way described in the supplied Administrator’s Guide. After launching the script, you will be asked to modify the settings from the previous version configuration files to the current version format.

Scan the received configuration file.

Existing problems and their solutions

30100 Content filtering can be applied only to the smallest parts of a message. It means that you can delete only a part that coincides by content-type, but not all parts of a message. Consequently, if content filtering rule coincides with any part similar to ‘message/*’ and ‘multipart/*’, the action will not be performed and a warning message will be added to the report.

38728 The kavscanner utility uses the full file path, so if there are too many subdirectories, an error message appears due to line length restrictions. The full file path should not exceed 4096 bytes. Objects located in deep nesting levels, will not be scanned.

40009 The kavscanner utility can not scan some file types if their size exceeds 2 GB.

40835 After Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Linux Mail Server integration with Sendmail, Kaspersky Anti-Spam 3.0 loses integration. After installation it is recommended to integrate Kaspersky Anti-Spam again.

40853 After integrating some Exim versions with Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Linux
Mail Server via dl_func failures may happen. It is connected with Exim error. For more information, please refer to http://bugs.exim.org/show_bug.cgi?id=713.

41317 Unable to receive data via SNMP when updating the databases.
